Subway Grate Near the Corner of 52nd and Lexington
Although at one time, this was the location of the Trans-Lux Movie Theater and is now an office building, it is the subway grate in front of the building, beneath which runs the Lexington Avenue line that is of interest to movie lovers.

This location could be titled either, "The Luckiest Subway Grate in the City" or, "The Location that Ended a Marriage." For it was here that Marilyn Monroe created her most famous scene when she allowed the air from a passing subway train to blow up her skirt. Reportedly, the entire scene was later reshot on a soundstage, but it was here that the original image was created, much to the annoyance of Monroe's then husband Joe DiMaggio.
