Central Park Mall
The mall was originally designed to be the formal centerpiece of Central Park where the well-to-do would promenade on summer afternoons. The southern end of the mall is lined with statues of Shakespeare, Robert Brown, Sir Walter Scott, and Fitz-Greene Halleck, an all-but-forgotten nineteenth century poet. It is subsquently known as the Literary Walk.

Kramer vs. Kramer

Photo Copyright Columbia Pictures 1979
Directed by: Robert Benton
Starring: Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep
Who can forget the heartbreaking scene in Kramer vs Kramer when Ted Kramer brings his son to the mall where he is reunited with the mother who abandoned them for over a year. It was also here in the mall, in an earlier scene, that Ted taught his son how to ride a bike.
