Bloomingdales

Bloomingdales began as a Ladies Notion Shop on the Lower East Side where they specialized in Hoop Skirts. They moved to their current location in 1886 and slowly expanded until they took over the entire block in the 1920s. Known by New Yorkers as Bloomies, the store is also famous for having created the first designer shopping bag with its Brown Bag series.

  It seems that Mermaid tourists are no different from the human ones. Their first day in the city and they immediately hit the stores. In Madison's case she ended up in Bloomingdales where she not only bought a bunch of clothes, but also learned English by watching television here. A talent she surprised Alan (Hanks) with when he came looking for her later.
